Moviegasm, Foodgasm, Bookgasm

BOO!!

Pictured above is Ben-Jie, if he was a chick XD

This was a good week for me. On Thursday, Chern and I went to watch movie. Wondering outside the theaters we came across this poster

One minute we were looking at it speechless, then the next we BOTH pointed at the chick and said: "Ben-Jie!!" It's true ain't it?

The movie we watched was obviously Nicolas Cage's Season of the Witch. Everyone who reads this blog know that I am a hardcore Nicolas Cage fangirl. So I probably spent half the time looking at him rather than pay attention to the movie :)

How can a dude pushing 47 look so good!
In a nutshell, Nicolas Cage plays Behman, a 14th Century Crusader who is tired of murdering innocent people for the church. Him and his best friend Felson, who is played by Ron Pearlman (aka Hellboy himself!) become nomads travelling the countryside until the come across a village infested with the Black Plague. After finding out about their past, the Head Priest there make them take a witch who is said to be responsible for the plague to a remote monastery where the monks there will decide her fate. Along for the ride are a monk Debelzaq (Stephen Moore), a local knight Eckhart (Ulrich Thomsen), a swindler cum guide Hagamar (Stephen Graham) and an altar boy named Kay (Robert Sheehan). But the witch is not as she seems, she turns their weaknesses into her weapons and may not be what she claims to be...

Hellboy after hours
If Nicolas Cage weren't in this I may still watch this. The storyline was engaging and there were never dull moments. However, the acting was flawed in many ways. I know I am to believe thet Behman and Hellboy were supposed to be best friends but both lacked chemistry other than a few friendly comments.

Whoa there Missy!!
But then Nic Cage IS in it so at least I was entertained. C'mon! When a guy nearly 50 still looks good when wearing what looks like a burlap sack you gotta give him some credit!

Kay
The only reason I tolerate this guy is cause his curly hair reminds me of Darren Criss...... A less cute version...

I shall smolder now.

The movie has a total of 2 LOL moments. Both were probably unintentional, for me anyway. One was when Hellboy headbutts a demon minion not once but twice! Another is when demons were crawling on the damn celling like freaking lizards. THE CEILLING!! REALLY!!?? I totally LMAO'd there!! It looks like something a cheesy horror film would put in!

I knew he had a huge sword!
Overall, a good movie to watch only if you like Nicolas Cage and a supernatural film without much supernaturally things happening.

On Saturday, Esther, Iven, Cat, Jer, Grace and I met in Time square's Papa John's for a *sob* farewell lunch *sob* for me *end sob*. Foodgasms were everywhere as we ate cheese pizzas with traces some carbohydraty thingy at the bottom. I WANT THE PICTURES JEREMY!!! After Papa's was Gelato where more foodgasms happened!!!!

Later, I did a little shopping with Grace before going to one of my most favouritest place in the world.

Borders!!!!

I am such a nerd

I saw some interesting books there too

Children's books
Wow. Just wow. I remember reading Peter and Jane when I was young. This makes the corny classic even BETTER!

HP POP UP!!!!!! I WANT!!!!!!

I bought this book. Disney Hyperion. Hard Cover. EPIC!!!! I looked for this book for ages!!!!

Lightning Thief Graphic Novel!!!!! LOVE!!!!! It cost about 50 bucks so like any Malaysian, I spent an hour reading this in the bookstore and then retured it to the shelf. :) But I loved it!! The storyline was changed slightly for the graphic novel but at least it wasn't as mangled as the movie.

BOOKGASM!!!!!

And to make my day even better, Rick Riordan posted the latest cover for the new Kane Chronicles!!

I'm so happy :')

iPhone Camera SUCKS!!

I miss my Sony Ericsson. Even if it was only a 3 megapixel camera, I took fabulous pictures with it. Partly due to the fact that I am AWESOME! And also it was a Cybershot camera, that means I can just point and click. I don't need a DSLR, I want my Cybershot BACK!!!!!

1 More Month

OMG!!!

It's my final month here!!!!

This time next month I would be in Australia!

......

OMG!!!!!

I will be setting of for Oz on February 10th, 1 week after Chinese New Year. (Would it be selfish of  me if I ask for extra angpaus this year? Nah, I deserve it......)

That would mean I need another EPIC NIGHT OUT with my AWESOME FRIENDS!!!

On another note, I started playing a new computer game

This was seriously the scariest game ever created so far. Not only do you have no chance to fight back against monsters, you also need a constant supply of lamp oil and tinders to preserve your sanity.

Basically, you are Daniel. You wake up dazed and confused inside a Prussian castle. You have no memories. Soon, you find a note from your pre-amnesia self, telling you to find and kill the castle's master, Alexander. No biggie. But you have to navigate yourself throughout the castle, fleeing and hiding from monsters and a shadow who is following you.

What got me playing this game was discovering the reason why Daniel was there, piecing together his past bit by bit by finding diary entries throughout the castle and find out exactly why Alexander needs to die. But it's not easy as you will have to go through the darkness where your sanity degrades and you start fearing for your life. (And pee in your pants too)

Alexander needs a better hobby

The fear is created by a combination of implied and observable events. The scratches, clicking and footsteps  will make you jump but the moaning of the unseen creatures will have you literally running away. Visual cues are also crucial to reinforcing the sense of terror, as Daniel's vision is affected by ghastly sights and revelations of gruesome acts to which his previous life was connected. Sanity degrades while in the dark, causing the scene to shift and sounds intensify, controls are muddied, and eventually insects crawl across your field of vision. It contributes to an feeling of isolation and helplessness that adds to the sense of terror.

A rare moment of peace

Staying in the light maintains mental focus. A lantern is available to light up corridors, provided you've enough oil to keep it lit. Tinderboxes are scattered around and used to light torches to illuminate shady passageways and candles within kitchens and torture chambers to make it less psychologically taxing as you explore. You can still see in the darkness if you've run out of both oil and tinderboxes since Daniel's eyes will eventually adjust to the darkness, but there's a moment of adjustment, mimicking the dilation of his pupils to altered intensity of light. It also sets up a gameplay dynamic between dark and light -- do you stay in the shadows to hide from enemies but risk your sanity, or light up everything you can to keep your wits but be in constant danger?

Mr Monster enjoys long walks and scaring the shit out of me

It may not sound like much but wait till you play the game! The background noises alone will just make you run.... This is seriously the best game ever and one of the scariest games I have ever played. The loading screen recommends you turn the lights off and play with headphones, something I strongly agree. Few games are able to conjure up an atmosphere this genuinely frightening.

It's A Britney Spears SEX Riot!!!!

I love Sue.

We were doing a topic on Sexual Purity in church last Sunday and the homework of that day was to find a song with a sexual theme in it.Well, me being me, I OBVIOUSLY had a few of those songs already in my iPod.

Looking at popular culture now, it seems like we are becoming a perverted society (duh!). These days, more and more songs are becoming sexual in nature. Though not many make it to the US Top 40 you cannot deny that they are in the mainstream.

Off the top of my head I can name many sexual songs in my iPod, among them Tata Young's Sexy Naughty Bitchy Me, most of my Britney Spears and Nickelback! Damn!

4 guys, not a single hot one.....

Don't get me wrong, I love Nickelback but you cannot deny that a few of the songs on their latest album Dark Horse have elements of sex, drinking and drugs in them.

I wanna buy her suit in this one

And let's not forget Britney Spears. I have to readily agree with Sue on that one. Britney Spears has made awesome songs, there are the usual beautiful songs like Stronger and Sometimes but there are songs that range from small innuendos to full blown, in you face, I wanna sex you up songs.

I can go on and on about this but then I'm not the right person to lecture anyone about this since these songs are currently present in my iPod and I enjoy listening to them..... Does that make me a perverted person?

     "Yeah I'm sorry, I can't afford a ferrari,
But that don't mean I can't get you there.
I guess he's an xbox and I'm more atari,
But the way you play your game ain't fair..."

Is Hank Green Awesome?

The answer to that is a resounding HELL YEAH!!!

It's Sunday people!!! I love Sunday mornings, enjoy Sunday afternoons and HATE Sunday nights....

Or I would hate it if there was school the next day XD Tomorrow, all the tiny students will flock back to the education black hole known as school, some unwillingly, some going only to see friends.

I do not understand the Malaysian school system, everytime they purportedly "change" the system, it either stays absolutely the same or in most cases: suck even more. Come on Malaysian Government!!! Do you want students who are all rounders or the usual fact vomiters? Did you know that neither of our ex-PM and ex-Education Minister's kids have undergone the bloody system? No! Both their kids went to Garden International which bases the curriculum according to the National Curriculum of England? Both have never sat for SPM or STPM! This should be an indication of how bad Malaysian Education is as the people (used to be) responsible for making the syllabus do not want their children to undergo it.

Anyway, this year is STPM exam year for Form 6-ers. I bet most of them envy me cause my finals are complete and I'll be off to uni while they slave away for another year. HAH!!! This year also happens to be PMR and SPM year for both my brothers so it will be fun watching them suffer too hehe.......

Happy New Year

Happy 1/1/11!!!

It's MMXI y'all and what a year it's gonna be.

Happy Dappy New Year!!!!

My New Year's Resolution: to complete last year's Resolution!

But this year I won't be doing it in Malaysia!

Because of my awesome score in my SAM finals, every university I have applied for has offered me a place. Yay!!!

I'll probably be bragging about this for the next few months so I'm warning all of you now. He he.......

It's still in the works but most likely I'll be off to Melbourne U, the top uni in Oz.

I had no idea that there was a "u" in Melbourne.....

I will miss everyone dearly when I leave but the term starts on the 28th of February. That means I have 2 months left here to enjoy the company of my wonderful friends before I jet off the the land of  super tall ang mohs.

Let's make these 2 months count y'all!!!
