New Semester, New Troubles, New Light

But I hate to go to Uni after Hoildays....... D:

Another thing I hate more than Uni? Mornings

Now combine these two and Voilà! It's now evident that I'm not having the time of my life now.

Oh Mornings.... Y U COME SO EARLY!!??

 At least it's not all bad.

Snacks were on sale for the longest time, I bought so MUCH!!

 Now I have tons of junk food to ease the transition.

On a more serious note, I'm not just a person who only complains and whines all the time. The are reasons behind my discourse.

I may hate going to school/college/uni but I usually suck it up for 1 reason: I LOVE learning. I just don't like the way it's taught. For example: I have a gigantic interest in History, but the way Sejarah is taught in school killed it for the longest time. However, last semester, I took a course on Human Ecological History and enjoyed it immensely!

Here's the difference between the two subjects:

In Sejarah, facts were shoved down my throat. I was taught how to feel and what I need to remember. I only studied this subjact to pass exams. IT was the type of thing that you had no choice of the matter. Like you needed to study, like you had to remember it. And that was the root of the problem. Remember. Not appreciate. Not enjoy. Remember. Gah!

In HEH, however, students were taught the events and ideas and they would be up to our own interpretation. There is no right answer. I have even read up on things myself that were not taught in class, just because I want to know more! MOAR!!! Curiosity killed the cat? Rubbish! Curiosity is what drives you forward!! (It also helped that I discovered Hetalia at that time too XP )

Wrong Priorities

Yep, I got my priorities right :D I have never bought Hunger Games, the first time I read it, it was from an e-book. I want to buy this book so bad, with the cover depicted above. But unfortunately, all the books I've found have that bitch Stephanie Meyer's name on it  >:(  I don't wanna taint my room with that horrible name!!

Back to schooling matters...

My exam timetable came out. I would have

Biology - 8 June - 9.30am - 12.30pm

Chemistry - 9 June - 9.30am - 12.30pm

Ecological History of Humanity - 14 June - Final Research Essay Submission before 5pm

Informatics - 20 June - 9.30am - 12.30pm

Did I mention that I HATE mornings? (and exams too)

One thing that comforts me somewhat, is that exams are NOT a measure of intelligence, they do not determine how well you will do in life, how successful you will be or how much potential you have in yourself.

Pasar Malam

Late post is late!!

Last Thursday, Melbourne U had a Pasar Malam. It isn't Taman Connaught but whatever, it's a bloddy PASAR MALAM!!!! There were so many people there! All the Ang Moh just stood in the middle and talked and ate. If they did that in Malaysia, they would either be run over by cars of trampled by friendly Malaysians

Another thing you don't see in normal Pasar Malam, GAMES!! The object of one of the games was to stack 5 apples on top of each other. It's easier than it looks :D I stacked 4 before is went tumbling down. :( Missed some free movie tickets too D:

No, it's not Char Kuey Teow. It's Vietnamese Fried Noodle, there is a Vietnamese name but I forgot what it's called.... Anyway, it was sweet. Too sweet.....

They were giving out free balloons!!! I LOVE BALLOONS!!!

See that truck at the back. There was FREE Ben & Jerry's ice cream as well. Yes, FREE!!! But the line was so fucking long, I had to wait 15 minutes just to get a cup...... then I lined up again!!!!!

Ack! Blurry! Damn. Pictured above is Indian Rojak. Yes, it's as disgusting as it looks. Blugh!! Cendol at the back wasn't bad though.....

PANCAKES!!!!!

WHOOOO!!! WINNING!!!!

I had my first dissection today. WHOOOO!!!! I have been waiting for this day since I was 12. Finally get to touch an organ!

(Yeh, I dissected a kidney last year but it's NOT THE SAME!!!)

It was a sheep's heart. I remember that sheep's heart is a deliccy in a dish in some country, but I forgot which. Greek, maybe? Meh, a heart is a heart.

Seeing the inside of a heart is an amazing experience. Throw out those stupid drawings in your Science books, they're all WRONG! We were expected to stuff our fingers in the veins and arteries, just to know where it leads. Awesome. I didn't take any pictures :( The pic above is just something I found on the internet. AND I DIDN'T WEAR GLOVES!!! Yeah, there was nothing between my hands and the raw organ.

Did I mention I was hungry throughout the whole practical? Well, I was. And the heart started to smell like hotdogs after a while......

Since the practical was called heart and lungs, I expected to dissected lungs too. Which I didn't.

Aww...... At least I got to touch one.... It was squishy.......

I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy.

The demonstrator said that was because of the air sacs in the lung, which she then compared to bubblewrap. A not so pleasant image popped into my head...... Had a hard time suppressing my laughter. Hehehehehe

There was even a tube to demonstrate how much the lungs can inflate, the trick of this demonstration is to DON'T. BREATH. IN. Fufufu......

I still can smell the heart on my fingers, even after my bath...... Dammit, I'n getting hungry.

Nutty German Professor

Ya know, the best way to develop an interest in a subject is to have an interesting lecturer.

Damn, That women is a riot! When she first came in she said she was gonna teach us the Foondementals XD German accent FTW!! Later, while talking about some experiments, she gave us a bit of a history lesson: "The Bunsen burner was named after it's German inventor, therefore, the correct pronunciation of Bunsen burner is actually "Boonsen" burner!"

A few days ago, she picked a condom (in the packet of course) from the floor of the lecture hall and asked loudly whose it was XD

She also has a special was to tell us to shut up :P She finger whistles!!! I don't know anyone who finger whistles!!! Not as loudly anyway..... I can't believe today was her last lecture. Sigh.... She made an otherwise boring series of lectures a little fun....

On the bright side, after having to endure too many lectures of plants (BORIMG!!!) Finally it came to an end!!! Now, my current Bio lecturer is a biologist specializing *giggle* in *giggle* mammalian *giggle* reproduction!!!!! Bwahahahahahaha!!!!! His first few words: "Sex is interesting! You can't survive without it!" I'm gonna enjoy my next Bio lecture.. XD

Required Exam Rant

 Writing this, it is about half an hour to my Bio test. Oh, Exams. How I detest thee.

 Uni life would be so much more exciting if there wasn't any exams....

Even now, when I'm supposed to be studying I feel like blogging. I am a FANTASTIC student.
